We deconstruct homes as a waste diversion solution on the Sunshine Coast.

Do you have a house, garage, shed or outbuilding that requires tear-down? Do you want to see materials diverted from the landfill that still have potential for reuse? At Coast Pro Deconstruction, we are devoted to reducing waste from buildings that might otherwise be demolished wholesale, creating opportunity for resource recycling in our community.

Free Estimate
& Site visit

Contact us for further information about setting up a site visit. We’ll tour the project with you and provide a free, detailed estimate of our services. Each project offers a different challenge so planning is crucial for a successful deconstruction.

2.

Deconstruction

Using mainly hand tools, we disassemble the structure piece-by-piece, carefully separating the component parts and assessing each for potential reuse. This process is efficient and methodical.

3.

Processing Materials

Once individual materials are deconstructed, they must be further processed; fasteners must be removed from studs, rotten ends cut off lumber, excess mortar removed from cinder block, etc. We then sort by type, size and condition, and transport the material off-site for future use.

Frequently asked Questions

Service Area

We are local to the lower Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. We give thanks to live, work and play on the traditional, unceded, and ancestral territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw and shíshálh Nations. Our service area typically extends from ch’ḵw’elhp (Gibsons) up to ch’atlich (Sechelt).

Deconstruction vs. Demolition

Deconstruction is delicate compared to demolition; where demolition brings to mind excavators and wrecking balls, deconstruction is slower and more deliberate, with emphasis on material salvage without excess damage.

Price Structure

Our quotes are typically a price per square foot, based on the complexity of the deconstruction project. Contact us directly for more details.

Why Deconstruct?

Using repurposed construction materials is crucial for reducing the environmental impact of new building projects. By diverting materials (such as dimensional lumber, sheathing, concrete block, etc.) from deconstruction projects away from the landfill, we can extend their lifespan. Reusing salvaged products elsewhere reduces the demand for virgin resources, which can help reduce the carbon footprint of a new build.

Timelines

Each project is different, but depending on the complexity and scale of the structure a deconstruction could take days to weeks for complete dismantling and removal.

Can I keep the salvaged material?

While we typically remove deconstructed material and keep it at our storage yard for use in future construction projects, we are also keen to work with property owners to have some of those materials stay on-site for immediate reuse. This might apply to timbers that would make a great statement mantlepiece, or studs that still have a lot of life left to make a shed, etc. We can discuss those arrangements during a site visit and during project planning.

About Us

We are Ben and Tim, two Sunshine Coast locals who care about our community and the environment. We noticed a gap in local construction industry practices that meant large quantities of useful materials were going to waste via demolition projects. We felt compelled to address that shortage in our home community. We look forward to sharing our vision with you.
